BRING ME THE HORIZON Singer's Ruptured Vocal Cord Forces Concert Cancelations

February 15, 2019

British rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON have canceled the last two shows of their U.S. tour. The concerts in Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada were called off due to singer Oli Sykes's "ruptured right vocal cord."

Openers THE FEVER 333 also tweeted about the cancelation, but referred to the shows as being "postponed."

Sykes issued a statement earlier today saying: "I'm gutted to announce we have to cancel the remainder of our American out. I've ruptured my right vocal cord, and I've been told if I don't rest it immediately, I'm in serious danger of doing permanent damage. I've been trying my best to fulfill our commitments as I really hate letting you guys down, not to mention these shows have been literally the most fun ever. But at this point, me singing would be the equivalent of a footballer running on a broken leg. Once again, I'm so sorry. I hope you all understand."

Refunds for the canceled shows can be obtained at the points of purchase.

BRING ME THE HORIZON recently scored its first No. 1 album in the U.K. with its latest effort, "Amo". The disc had combined first-week units of 27,000, with 61% of its sales on CD or vinyl.

The band's previous best album chart showing was No. 2 with 2015's "That's The Spirit".

The record failed to crack the Billboard 200 album chart's Top 10 however, settling for a No. 14 debut with sales in North America of just over 26,000 units — close to the U.K. tally. Around 16,000 of those were physical copies.

"Amo" was released on January 25 via Columbia Records. The band spent last summer writing and recording in Los Angeles, with Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish handling production.
